History
God blessed these humble beginnings and the owner of the building graciously set the rent at an affordable price. After countless hours of cleaning and renovation, weekly services began on the first Sunday of September, 1989. Around 40 people, including a host of those that had helped with the cleanup, were present to join in the celebration. By 1991 the congregation had increased and The Church had outgrown their little church in Galloway.
Pastor Jerry and the church leaders began to pray and seek the Lord for His leading and direction. After looking at several buildings that were for sale, the church voted to purchase a building located at 2127 W. Mt. Vernon in Springfield. God allowed all things to fall into place and the first services in the new building were held in September, 1991. Many glorious and powerful movements of the Spirit took place in that church on Mt. Vernon. The power of God moved mightily and many souls were saved, and numerous healings & deliverances took place.
Over the next few years, the Lord continued to add to the congregation at Galloway and, once again, Pastor Jerry and Sis. Joyce Humble, found themselves outgrowing their current facilities and seeking God for His plan for yet another building. A building fund was started and it increased as God blessed the giving. A nine-acre tract of land was purchased, and before long that loan was paid off. The building fund continued to increase as the church continued to give. In February, 2002, Galloway Full Gospel held the ground breaking service on their newly acquired property at 3357 W. Farm Road #146, Springfield, MO.
The construction of the new building was blessed of the Lord with the first services being on Sunday, November 17th, 2002. Presently, the church sits on this property, with a nearly 300 seat sanctuary, large fellowship hall & commercial kitchen, classrooms, 6 bathrooms, nurseries, heated baptismal, and an upstairs floor for the youth department. After nearly 30 years of faithful and godly service, which included 19 years as the Senior Pastor of Galloway, Pastor Jerry Humble retired in April, 2008. Pastor Jerry was a man of God that dedicated his life to the building of Galloway Full Gospel.
He was unyielding in his faith, preached the uncompromising Word of God and gave sacrificially to the Lord and to the church body. Eternity will only tell the lives that were touched and changed due to the wonderful ministry of this tremendous couple. After a prayerful search, Galloway elected a new pastor to carry on the work that was begun by Pastor Jerry in that small one room building in the community of Galloway. John English from Dallas, TX answered the call and enthusiastically accepted the senior pastor position upon Pastor Jerry’s retirement. Pastor John, the current Senior Pastor, along with his wife Michele and three children came to Springfield to continue the work of God at Galloway.
Pastor English has over 13 years of ministry experience that include Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, Evangelist, and Missions.
Galloway is a church that believes in the Power and the Presence of God. The ministries here are designed to reach every age group with the powerful truth of God's word. Galloway Full Gospel is a Church with a vision. Our vision here is to be a Church that operates in the Power of the Holy Spirit, to be a Church that knows no boundaries, to be a Church that preaches the uncompromised word of God, to be a Church in which signs, wonders, and miracles can be found, to be a praying Church, a working Church, and a Church where God’s Love is Expressed.
